Doctor Salif Martins finds himself fortunate to secure work straight out of a top United States medical school. Starting his own practice in Circleville township, his first task is to appease the high-school football coach. Greg Turnbull pressures Martins to have injured field goal kicker, Joshua Green, ready to play in a crucial upcoming game. As a Muslim born in Mali, Africa, Martins' principles of order and respect conflict sharply with those of the religiously and culturally apathetic Turnbull, a born and bred Circleville resident. Caught in between, Josh must decide which man he can trust to help further his own career ambitions.
