PROPHECY
A drama of Americans and Palestinian-Lebanese whose lives are bracketed by wars in Vietnam, Lebanon and Iraq. The story of a charged relationship between an acting student and an actress, of a marriage that survives and strengthens over years, of an extended family that manages to form across fault lines and of lives altered forever by wars.Karen Malpede became an oral historian for Columbia University after 9/11, taking testimony from survivors and witnesses. Since then, in her fiction and drama, she has chronicled the effects upon ordinary people of the wars the US unleashed in response to the 2001 attacks. Prophecy is based upon a reworking of her short-story by the same name. She is the author of twelve other plays produced in the US and Europe. She co-adapted and directed "I Will Bear Witness", the Holocaust diaries of Victor Klemperer.
