Since 2001, Die Gorillas have hosted the annual International Improv Festival of Berlin. Since then, it has become one of the most important and largest meetings of that kind in all the world.
The tradition of showing the international growth of improvisational theatre with these 22 unique shows is constantly receiving broad interest and enthusiasm from the Berlin audience.
The 2009 festival will focus on the topics "Music and Sound". Starting with the opening shows, everything will be more musical than the years before. The international artists will improvise opera, folk music, pop, and HipHop depending on the audience's choice.

It is the 7th trip to the Berlin improv festival for Crumbs, from Winnipeg, Canada. No other group has been invited more often than Crumbs. That is because of their crazy and absurd stories, their authentic characters and the sensitive understanding for every detail of their artfully arranged strands, which fascinate their audience. In their show, even the most cheesy love story touches the audience - especially when it is so smoothly combined with self-mockery.
For the second time, the Crumbs will be graciously accompanied by the marvellous musical mixing skills of DJ Hunnicutt and his laptop.

It is the 7th trip to the Berlin improv festival for Crumbs, from Winnipeg, Canada. No other group has been invited more often than Crumbs. That is because of their crazy and absurd stories, their authentic characters and the sensitive understanding for every detail of their artfully arranged strands, which fascinate their audience. In their show, even the most cheesy love story touches the audience - especially when it is so smoothly combined with self-mockery.

They have known each other for years: Crumbs from Winnipeg, Canada, and the improv ensemble, Die Gorillas, from Berlin. Since 2001, Crumbs have returned to Berlin every spring, often as guests of the festival. But both companies have never performed in a show together. It has not yet been decided which lucky ensemble members of Die Gorillas are going to perform with Crumbs this spring. They will probably have to draw a lot on that question.
No question, the audience will be the most fortunate, as they will see a show full of improvisation, crazy stories and absurd characters. The performers respond fully to the audience's suggestions - as usual when improvisational theatre takes place. That way, the audience gets to experience a rapid, creative and interactive show as it evolves into a unique story. Each show has never been on the stage before and will never be repeated or reproduced.
Improv Musical
Improvising with music is a part of almost every improv show currently performed. But the music is usually used in just one scene in the course of the whole performance. At the 2009 festival, there will be an entirely improvised musical show which lasts all night. Ten of the thirty actors of the festival will be trained by professional musical actress Nini Stadelmann. She will teach them to perform as singer, dancer and actor in this show.
