The Stanzas Poetry Series: Anthony Baggette + Gaby Bila-G

Anthony Baggette moved from Ohio to Berlin in the early 80’s and was very active in Berlin’s jazz- and funkscene till the late 90’s.  He won Berlin's first poetry slam in 2001 and has played  in countless clubs  with his band Jazzoetry. He has worked with Jazzanova on radio shows and club nights at the Delicious Donuts in Berlin and released some gems on Tokyo Dawn Records. In February 2009 he was awarded the annual Bridge of Hearts Award in Hamburg for his work with youth and the community. (www.clearbluewater.jimdo.com)

Gaby Bila-Günther, aka Lady Gaby is a Berlin-based spoken word artist who has been labeled The Peaches of Poetry in Berlin, and ‘oddly poetic...flamboyant and upbeat’ by The Age (Melbourne). Her latest poetry and writing was presented and performed at the Transmediale 09 Festival at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, January 2009, as well as part of an online collaboration of artists with the Berlin-Australian Project.  She recently completed an artistic residency in Tabor, Czech Republic.   She hosts two monthly reading series in Berlin: FUEL and Movin' on with Verses.
